Maths - Place Value with decimals

Today for maths we were practising converting decimals to whole numbers, such as 3.502 million is the same as 3,502,000. This was quite challenging!

We had to order the populations for cities around the world. We wrote the population onto a post-it, then we ordered the populations from smallest to largest. As a class we checked the order. We had to change some because they were in the wrong order. Oops!

What did you learn from this activity?

  3. It was really hard when we had to sort all the cities in order because we weren't used to big numbers in the million's.
