learning how to illustrate

Friday 23 November.                  Quinn

This morning in Room 1,  Bruce Potter an illustrator came in to teach us how to illustrate pictures. He even drew a picture of a goblin going as fast as he can in a car with a dragon chasing him.

this is that picture I talked about.^:D

Bruce potter

Bruce potter came to paerata school so we could see what he can dolike what an illutrator could do. So maybe another person would like to be an illustratorwhen they grow up they might want to be one when they are a little bit older. I think bruce potter was born to be an illustrator and maybe an artist. The end by. Waimaria.

The illustrator

This morning in room I Bruce potter came in to talk with us about being an illustrator. The entire school was there. He sang a song about Kaha the kea. He drew a picture of a dragon chasing a goblin.

Re-planting our Strawflowers

Our new pots for the strawflowers.
On Friday 16 November Room 8 repotted their strawflower plants into bigger pots.  We did this because the pots that the plants were growing in became too small.  Then we replanted the extra strawflower plants into the garden under the big Tōtara tree outside Room 3.

While we were doing the replanting, Tyler used the iPad to video what Room 8 was doing.  She also talked to some of Room 8 to see what they were doing.  Her video is below (Miss Bolton has edited it a little bit.)

Proof-reading #2

As a class we looked at the piece of writing below.  Miss Bolton highlighted the mistakes that we found and then we told her how to fix the mistakes.  How do you think we did?

Proof reading

We are practising proof reading our writing. In the photo below, some of Room 8 are proof reading a story - looking at capitals, full stops and other punctuation.

Flintstones Animation #2

Here is Harmony and Monomono-Ava's animation.

The Flintstone's Animations

On the twentieth of October the Flintstones reading group did animation.
We could work together or by ourselves.  I was doing Captain Underpants punching a bad guy.
The hard part was drawing.  After you've finished drawing you colour it in.  Then you have to go on the Apple laptop to do iMovie.
First you had to go to new project by doing command N or File, new project.  Then you had to typ in a name.  After that you put the pictures in order.

Our trip to the Paerata bush

On Wednesday 31 October each Junior class went down the the bush.  We learned about the native plants that were in the Paerata bush.  We used the camera and iPad to take videos and photos when we were in the bush.

Here is a video of Robynne Sutton (the Park Ranger) explaining about the different native plants in the bush.
