Potato Harvest
Back at the beginning of June, all of the junior students planted a seed potato in a bucket. On Thursday 20th September we had the Junior Potato Harvest.
We took our buckets of potatoes around the back of Room 5 for harvesting. It was great fun uncovering all of our potatoes!
Monomono-Ava had the most potatoes in her bucket - she had 15. She also had the most in the whole junior school.
Cameron had the biggest potato in his bucket - it was 175 grams. Naiya in Room 5 had the biggest potato in the junior school - it was about 200 grams!
Here are some photos of the harvest :)

Daffodil Day (Friday 31 August)
Daffodil Day is a fundraising day for the Cancer Society. Paerata School chose to help fundraise for this cause in 2012.
Before Daffodil Day our class decided to fundraise by selling decorated mini-cup cakes. Room 7 fundraised by selling bags of popcorn.
Our class talked about what the Cancer Society did and many people in our class knew someone who had been affected by cancer.
Room 8 fundraised a total of $57.40!

Narratives using Puppet Pals or Toontastic
As part of our writing this term, Room 8 has been learning about narratives. To help us learn and write about narratives we have been looking at Fairy Tales.
We read a lot of Fairy Tales and then we used some of the characters and ideas to write our own narratives.
We have used the iPad apps called "Puppet Pals" and "Toontastic" to turn our narratives into movies. Over the next few weeks Miss Bolton will add our movies either to the blog or our wiki page.

School Cross Country
Last Wednesday (29 August) we had our cross country races. It was a great sunny day :) We started with the Year 1 races and went right up to the Year 8s races.
Everyone tried really hard during their races.
Unfortunately the Year 3 boys had to re-run their race on Thursday because some of the boys went the wrong way - oops!
How did you feel about running in your race?
Did you enjoy cross country?
