No water!

Today, Monday 30 July, we had trouble with the power at school.  Unfortunately the water pump was not getting enough electricity to work.  Because the power company could not give Mrs Mariassouce a definite time that the power would be back on, we all had to go home (even the teachers)!
We couldn't stay at school without the water being on - we couldn't flush the toilets, wash our hands or have a drink - as it was a health and safety issue.

Leave a comment telling us what you did on your unexpected day off school.

London 2012

It's time for the Olympics!  On Friday the 27th of July, Quinn's mum came to school with an Olympic cake for us to share.

The cake had the Olympic Rings on it, made out of jellybeans.  Room 8 knew that the colours of the Olympic Rings are those particular colours because at least one of those colours are on every country's flag.

Miss Bolton took a photo of Quinn cutting the cake.

It was delicious!

Thanks Quinn and Quinn's mum!

100 days at school!

Quinn's collection of 100 old coins.

Friday 20 July was the 100th day at school for 2012.  Room 5 had been counting the days at school from the beginning of the year so that we knew when the 100th day was here.  In celebration of this, the junior school did lots of different 100 activities.
We played a game using
 a Hundreds Board.

Room 8 was challenged to bring 100 items to school, photos of this are below.

Room 8's 100 items challenge.
Kevin's 100 Jelly beans.
At the Junior Assembly we finished by enjoying a 100 day cake that Miss Bolton made.  Unfortunately she forgot to take a photo of it before we ate it - oops!

Harmony's 100 stones.

TeRauhuia brought 100 sheets of paper!

Ants and his brother Elu brought a 100 cake
and they added 100 lollies to the top.
Tyler brought 100 marbles to school.

Lots of people worked together to make a
streamer made up of 100 pieces of paper.
Bosston used 100 cubes to make
this long line!

This is the finished streamer and all the people that helped make it.  We all counted it to make sure there were exactly 100 pieces!
